Module Two
Module 2 was further advancement towards the study of Cloud Computing by exploring 3 new chapters from the textbook CompTIA Cloud + Certification Study Guide which dealt with the topics like
a) Virtualization;
b) Security in the cloud;
c) network performance;
d) business continuity and disaster recovery.
Secondly, we also explored more videos by Eli the Computer Guy on the broader topic of virtualization along with the concepts like O/S instances, Hypervisor and server cluster. Video tutorial from Professor Messer on virtual machines where we explored the concept of host and guest operating systems. Finally, we worked through more NIST documents on definition of visualization and concept of single and multi-server virtualization. And one more tutorial of Rackspace.com on cloud computing covering topics like
a) The Economics of Cloud Computing;
b) Say Goodbye to DIY Date Centers;
c) The Elephant in the Room.
For my learning artifact, I chose my assignment on Introduction to Virtualization based on the video by Eli the Computer Guy. I liked this module because I was familiar with the concept of Virtual machine in my previous Linux class and secondly I am fascinated by this concept of having a virtual machine in the cloud environment. Eli explained the concept of O/S and hypervisors. On the whole I was very impressed using Virtualization in the cloud computing environment, because it seems like a natural marriage of two very similar concepts and it is very helpful for a business, which decides to migrate to Cloud computing as a business decision. Secondly the use of open source concept like Virtual Box is also advantageous to a business by not committing to Licensing fees.
